5 Essential Skincare Tips For Your Newborn To Keep Them Safe And Protected

‘Soft as baby skin’ is not just a phrase, it’s a scientific fact. A baby’s skin is the softest and the most delicate of all. Ever since the baby is conceived in the womb, the skin starts evolving from the thinnest, translucent layer and starts thickening and taking shape to be one of the softest, most vulnerable skin mankind can ever know of.

Human skin evolves from the very few weeks of conception until the many years into childhood. This is why one needs to protect the skin with the softest, safest clothing be it in clothes, baby diapers, or bedding and quilts.

Every time a baby’s skin comes in contact with fabric, there tends to be a reaction to the skin. If the fabric is too coarse or mixed with unsuitable skin fabric, it may cause allergy, rashes, and redness to the skin.

This is why mothers need to be watchful about what products and fabric they use so as to keep the newborn’s skin far away from harm. Below are a few tips that can help in taking care of a newborn’s skin:

1. Choose Organic Fibre

The Best way to ensure that your baby’s skin does not come in contact with any chemically treated fabric is to choose organic fiber. Organic fiber is certified to have the highest standard of procurement and production.

Organic fiber is hand chosen and does not have any chemicals such as bleach treatment. They are designed with skin-friendly colors and dyes and are very safe for your baby’s skin. Choose to buy organic cotton clothes, beddings, receivers, bibs, baby diapers, and bottoms for your baby.

2. Massage Your Baby Regularly

Use a massaging oil to help grow the baby by physical skin stimulation. This helps in making the skin strong, creating a barrier, and physically stimulating the skin to induce blood circulation. It also enhances the baby’s growth and bone formation.

Choose an organic cold-pressed oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, or similar but ensure that the oil is not treated with any chemicals and has no artificial fragrance or colors.

3. Bathing Is Essential

Bathe your baby 1 to 2 times every day based on the weather you live in. If you live in a humid country like Asia, it is possible to bathe the baby even up to 2 times a day.

But for those who live in colder countries such as Canada and Northern Europe, you may choose to bath the baby with hot towels instead of water. This helps in keeping the skin clean and avoids sores, rashes, and redness from being in bed for a long time. Any sweat that is accumulated can also be washed away keeping the skin clear.

4. Baby Products

Always buy safe baby care products such as shampoos, lotions, rash cream, and other such emollients carefully. Look out for harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, phthalates that can create long-term adverse impacts on the baby’s skin. Also stay away from artificial fragrances, artificial colors, and such.

5. Change Clothes Often

Based on the weather, make sure you keep the baby’s environment clean by changing the sheets, clothes, and diapers often. Baby clothes are prone to germ buildup and can affect the baby’s health.

Make sure you also mind the area that the baby sleeps in, it should be clean, well ventilated, and airy with a safe surrounding so that the baby is free and safe to explore.
