How Can Chiropractors Help With Sciatic Pain?

Sciatic pain is as achy, dull, sharp like pins, and needles. Some people describe the pain as an electric shock in the leg pain. The pain also includes numbness, tingling, and burning sensations. Sciatica is also known as referred to or radiating pain, neuralgia, or neuropathy. Many people have a misconception of sciatica as a disorder. But according to medical experts, sciatica is a symptom of a condition.

The Symptoms

Some of the prominent symptoms of sciatica are:

  • A shooting pain which makes it very difficult for a person to get up and stand.
  • A pain in the rear or leg which is worse in comparison to sitting.
  • Continuous pain on the rear side.
  • A tingling sensation in the leg.
  • Weakness and inability to move the foot or leg.

Few Other Common Causes

Some of the other common causes of sciatica pain are:

  • Pregnancy can add excess strain on the spine.
  • A degenerative disc disease that affects discs which support our vertebrae.
  • Spondylolisthesis, where a vertebra slips and moves over another one.
  • Spinal stenosis, where the spinal canal narrows in the lower back.

Chiropractic Treatment Gets Used To Treat Sciatica

When it comes to sciatica release for hip pain, a Chiropractor has examined the patient and assesses the medical history to decide the root cause. The primary chiropractic treatment gets based on the theory of restricted spinal movement that results in lessened function and pain. The chiropractic treatment helps to heal the body by itself in a drug-free and non-surgical way.

The chiropractor would want to find the tender spots or the trigger points in the muscles. For that, the chiropractors use a lacrosse ball on the back of the sacrum, trochanter, and ilium. The lacrosse ball gets placed on the glute major towards the right side, extending the left leg. The other leg gets bent close to the stomach. If the chiropractor wants to create more pressure, the hip can rotate to the side where the lacrosse ball gets located. The ball gets placed as low or high on the glute as required to reveal the trigger points. Usually, the sacrotuberous ligament is located lower than your glute muscles. You can place the ball there, as it can show several trigger points. It is also possible to rotate the hip joints by bringing the left and right foot.

Few other chiropractic ways to treat sciatic pain include:

  • The cold/ice therapy helps to minimize the inflammation and ease the sciatic pain.
  • The ultrasound is a gentle heat that gets created by sound waves that penetrate deep inside the tissues. It maximizes circulation and minimizes muscle spasms, pain, stiffness, and swelling.

The spinal adjustments are central to chiropractic care. The manipulation frees the limited spinal movement and helps restore the misaligned vertebral bodies to the correct spine position. The adjustment processes differ from the swift high-velocity thrust to the ones that have gentle pressure and minimal force. The mastery of every technique is essential. The chiropractor needs to have the correct precision and skill—the spinal manipulation what distinguishes chiropractic care from various other medical care therapies.
