The Most Beautiful Cars, According To Automotive Design Experts

Keep reading to find out which car has the superior design.

1. Dino 206/246 GT (1967—1974)

A modification of the Dino 206 GT, the Dino 246 GT had a bigger V6 engine and a wheelbase that was 60 mm longer. Apart from the larger body, other design differences included a longer engine cover and a different location for the fuel cap. The vehicle was a huge commercial success, and three series were created during the course of its existence. Demand was still quite strong in 1973–1974 when manufacturing stopped.

2. Lamborghini Countach (1974–1990)

The Italian automaker Lamborghini produced this version of the Countach between 1974 and 1990. It is a rear-wheel-drive, mid-engine Coupé. Before the Countach, Lamborghini’s primary competitor for vehicles like the Porsche 911, De Tomaso Pantera, and Ferrari 365 GTB/4 was the stunning but rapidly aging Miura. The Countach, which was produced from 1974 to 1990, served as the actual poster child for children’s imaginations over the globe with each succeeding generation.

3. Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Spider (1937–1939, 1941)

When the German Formula Prix teams gained popularity, Alfa Romeo focused more on sports cars and road racing. The 8C 2900 was created especially for Italy’s most famous road race, the Mille Miglia. The 8C 2900 had an all-around independent suspension with wishbones at the front and swing axles at the back, similar to the modern Grand Prix racers. A 220-horsepower variant of the 2,9-liter eight-cylinder engine was mounted in the chassis.

4. Ferrari 250 GTO (1962–1964)

The 250 GTO model represented the peak of the 250 GT series’ evolution in competitive form while still being a road vehicle. In January 1962, it debuted publicly during the yearly pre-season Ferrari news conference. It was the only front-engine model on exhibit, while its sports racing competitors were all mid-engine designs.

5. Bugatti Type 57 S/SC Atlantic Coupé (1936–1938)

A unique, expensive, sporty, and stylish vehicle. These are the perfect words to describe Bugatti. Yet, they are particularly suitable for the type 57 SC Atlantic Coupé. These automobiles were only produced in four examples between 1936 and 1938. There are still three of these exceptional coupés. These are recognized as the most expensive automobiles ever made. The car industry has been looking for the fourth Atlantic for more than 80 years.

6. Mercedes-Benz 300SL (1954–1957)

It was the Mercedes-Benz company’s first sports automobile produced after World War II. In 1954, the vehicle was unveiled as a two-seat closed sports automobile with distinctive “gull-wing” doors. Later, an open Roadster version became available. It was the fastest automobile at the time.

The 300SL is also best known for being the first four-stroke petrol car to feature fuel injection. A “gull-wing” version was available from March 1955 to 1957. Roadster production ended in 1963 when the Mercedes-Benz 230SL was introduced.

7. Porsche 911 (1964–Present)

The 911 has served as the soul of the Porsche brand for 50 years. Few other cars in the world can offer history and consistency as rich as that of the Porsche 911. From its introduction as the model 901 at the IAA International Automotive Show in September 1963, it’s now regarded as the standard sports vehicle and the epitome of the kind. The 911 serves as the foundation for all future Porsche models.

8. Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split-Window Coupe (1963)

This split-window model from 1963 is one of history’s all-time favorites among Corvettes. The Corvette coupe was initially introduced with the 1963 model, which also marked the start of the sports car’s second generation. The Corvette was not initially regarded as a genuine performance car because of its weak start in 1953 with an inline six-cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower.

9. Lamborghini Miura P400/P400S (1967–1971)

When the mid-engine Lamborghini Miura P400 went into production in the late 1960s, it stunned the whole globe. The Miura, the fastest road vehicle in the world, was powered by Lambo’s 345-hp 3,9-liter V-12 and continued to be produced through 1973 with just minor upgrades despite its expensive starting cost of $20,000.

10. Jaguar E-Type Coupe (1961–1967)

Three series of the classic Jaguar E-Type were built over a 15-year span, giving it a long history. The British sports automobile is frequently regarded as one of, if not the greatest, sports cars of all time. It is said that none other than Enzo Ferrari called it the “most beautiful car in the world.”

On March 15, 1961, the automobile was initially shown to the media with an extraordinary amount of enthusiasm. Although the automobile was groundbreaking in many ways, its elegant and recognizable exterior was what made it stand out from the other vehicles now being produced. In addition, it had centered dual exhausts and faired-in headlights, which set it apart from all other production models of that time.

Conclusion

Authentic beauty necessitates certain originality and freshness. Even while some automobiles are renowned for their beauty, the things that came before and planted the seeds may deserve praise more. Additionally, don’t forget to check the 20 most aesthetic cars according to science.
